
Jacob is film and television professional with over ten years of experience in the industry. They have an extensive and diverse array of production experience, having done everything from providing technical oversight to post-production facilities, to organizing off-grid documentary shoots in the far north, to recording location sound for a Bollywood musical. Joshua Jackson once bought them a milkshake.
Jacob is passionate about creating opportunities for new voices in the film community. They are deeply involved in film festivals and arts management, where they seek to platform young filmmakers and connect them with new audiences. Their desire to help up-and-coming filmmakers also led them to teaching university-level screenwriting courses.
Jacob has an MFA in Film from York University and a BFA in Film Production from the University of British Columbia. They are a Producer on short films such as Leash, which has played at the Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF Kids, the Air Canada enRoute Festival, and the NSI Online Film Festival. They are the recipient of a Joseph Armand Bombardier Award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for their project The Madisons Lost at Sea.
